Relax and Improve Your Eyesight (written for Improve Your Vision)

Mistakenly, many people think that there is only one solution to impaired vision: to correct it. Most people do not consider that there could be a natural cure available. Instead, they look to correct their vision with contacts, glasses, or Lasik surgery. These corrections are only a "fix," not a cure.

It is easy to strain your eyes these days. Staring at a computer, a television, a video game, a book, and straining to see something far away can all produce mental and physical strain on the eyes. In order to improve your eye health, you will first have to learn how to relax your eyes. Relaxing your eyes is very simple and only requires a conscious effort. Try the following five exercises for relaxation:

" Blink. Blink every three to four seconds for about two minutes.

" Palming. Place your elbows on a desk, and palm your hands over your closed eyes. Do not apply any pressure anywhere; just simply relax in the dark for a few minutes.

" Figure eight. Imagine an "8" about ten feet in front of you, and then move your eyes through the figure "8" in one direction and then the other direction. Repeat this a few times.

" Near and far focusing. Hold out your extended thumb from your extended arm in front of you. Breathe deeply and stare at your thumb. Then, change your focus to something up close and focus on it for a while. Repeat.

" Zooming. Assume the above-mentioned position with your arm and thumb. Focus on your thumb from a distance, and slowly bring it in towards your face (about three inches away from your face). Then, slowly return your arm to its original position-all the while focusing on your thumb.

Poor Vision Need Not Be Permanent

Have you dealt with poor vision for quite some time, or perhaps your entire life? If yes, could you get excited about naturally improving your vision quickly? Step one is to eat well. Eating whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low fat dairy products supports eye health.

Step two is to being exercising your eyes. Perhaps you already exercise other parts of your body on quite a regular basis. Do the same thing now for your eyes. Start by blinking rapidly for about one minute. Rapid blinking strengthens your eyes, increases blood flow, and makes your eyes healthier.

Step three is to get good rest at night. If you can get eight to nine hours of sleep each night, you can improve your eyesight simply by giving your eyes enough time to rest and relax from the strain of life.

If you have been dealing with poor vision for either a short or a long time, you need to know that you do not have to remain in that state. Regardless of how badly your eyes have deviated from 20/20 vision, there is hope. Start taking steps now.

Diet and Good Lifestyle Habits Make For Better Eyesight

Kids today increasingly are suffering from poor eyesight. Keep a watch out for symptoms of weak eyes: burning eyes that become watery, persistent cold symptoms, regular headaches, impaired vision, and hazy vision. In some of these children, their eyesight is suffering because of nutritional deficiency.

A balanced diet and lifestyle is required for kids to avoid weakening eyesight. Kids need vitamin A especially for healthy eyes. Lettuce promotes healthy eyes. Papaya, bananas, carrots, broccoli, and spinach contain good doses of vitamin A. Peanuts and raisins are also good for eyesight. Children should be ingesting vitamin C, also; oranges, lemons, tomatoes, will all support the health of the eyes.

Herbs such as oregano, parsley, and turmeric improve eyesight. Omega 3-fatty acids found in tuna, mackerel, and salmon are favorable choices, along with egg yolks and dairy product. Foods rich in sulfur are beneficial also, such as onion, garlic, shallots, and capers.

In addition to monitoring eating habits, avoid watching TV for long hours or working on computers. Reading in too little light is not a good idea. And, too much alcohol is ill-advised for optimal eyesight also.
